Just as communities across Cebu were finding their footing after the recent earthquake, another powerful force of nature struck. Typhoon Tino (known locally as Kalmaegi) arrived, bringing yet another wave of pain and devastation that tested the resilience of thousands in Cebu Province.
In the early hours of November 4, 2025, Typhoon Tino unleashed relentless rains and flash floods, submerging nearly half of Cebu Province. The impact was immediate and catastrophic. Thousands of families lost everything: their homes, their schools, and their livelihoods were swept away. The physical destruction is undeniable, but the emotional toll—the feeling of trauma and the loss of hope—runs just as deep, especially among the children.
Amidst this darkness, our team felt a renewed urgency to act. On November 14, we experienced a moment of profound fulfillment as we reached out to the children and their parents in Barangay Tinago, Cebu City.
Through our dedicated feeding program and creative workshops, we aimed to provide more than just a meal—we sought to offer a distraction, a spark of joy, and a concrete reminder that they have not been forgotten. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces as they engaged in the activities, even for a few hours, was a powerful testament to the healing power of kindness.
Our outreach didn’t stop there. We also had the opportunity to visit a children’s home in Talisay City, where the young residents were likewise affected by the devastating flooding. Even in a time of deep adversity, we offered comfort through a short visit and simple sharing.
Every act of kindness, no matter how small, is a blessing and a meaningful effort. It is in these moments of vulnerability that shared humanity shines brightest.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this meaningful initiative possible, especially in the wake of Typhoon Tino. Thank you to our generous sponsors and tireless volunteers; your simple acts of compassion truly made a significant difference in a time when it was needed most.
But our work is far from over. The double impact of the recent earthquake and Typhoon Tino has left communities in North Cebu reeling, with many homes completely destroyed.
The tragedy here extends beyond the physical damage; many residents are struggling with trauma and a profound loss of hope. Through the simple act of giving, sharing, and connecting, we can help restore their courage and rebuild their faith. By sharing the word of God and our resources, we aim to provide not just immediate relief, but spiritual and emotional fortitude to face the long road ahead.
We are committed to visiting these northern communities soon. If you feel called to help us bring material aid, emotional support, and renewed hope to these deeply affected families, please reach out. Together, we can help them turn the page and begin to rebuild.
