This February, under the bustling skyline of Cebu I.T. Park, the Student Life Organization Inc., in partnership with Cebu I.T. Park, hosted “Art with a Heart”—a special workshop celebrating National Arts Month. The event brought together over 40 remarkable children from marginalized backgrounds and those with disabilities, providing them with a creative platform for expression and connection.
A Canvas for Opportunity
More than just an art workshop, the event served as a gateway to potential scholarship paths. With guidance from professional artists who volunteered their time and expertise, the children filled the air with the sounds of creativity—scratching pencils and sweeping brushes—as they brought their imaginations to life.
Moments of Heart and Talent
The day was filled with heartfelt moments. Children expressed their gratitude to their loved ones through art, with one child quietly sharing, “This is for my Nanay,” as she painted. A friendly competition showcased the immense talent in the park, with ten “collectible” paintings earning special recognition. Among the three grand winners was a brilliant student from a local SPED school, whose face lit up with the joy of discovery.
Gratitude and Impact
For the college volunteers, the event was a profound lesson in leadership through service. We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsor—the Asiatown I.T. Park Association Inc. and their dedicated staff—for providing the food, venue, and support that made this day possible. Thanks to them, every child went home with a set of brand-new art materials: tools for a lifetime of expression.
